Tips for Beginners Getting Started
with Affiliate Marketing
We appreciate that getting started in Affiliate Marketing is difficult. The bottom line, however, is that we WANT you to succeed. After all that's how WE make money too!
When you start it seems like everywhere you turn there is an "expert" or "marketing guru" who will sell the "insider secrets" of making money through Affiliate Sales. We have had a look at most of these "gurus" and tried to sort through the hype and self-promotion, and give you some practical things you can do to make money selling Jamorama (or any other affiliate product for that matter). Getting Started - General Principles After selling Jamorama and Rocket Piano, and working with Affiiates for some time there are some fundamentals that we have all learned the hard way. You can run AdWords ads and drive traffic directly to the Jamorama site, however there are more efficient ways to sell the product.
You can take a look at what other affiliates are doing by doing a Google search for "Jamorama" or "Rocket Piano". Look at both the listings and the Google ads that appear on the page. Review Sites Work Best The bottom line is that sites that review several different learn-guitar (or learn-piano) courses and give your impressions and comments sell well. People trust reviews and unbiased information. Take a look at http://GuitarLessonsReview.com/, and http://LearnGuitarReview.info/,. These sites and others like them sell very well. We suggest that you invest the time and effort to put a review site together but PLEASE DON'T COPY THESE! Be original and build your own.
If you aren't good at building websites don't despair. You CAN make money running Google AdWords ads and referring customers to the Jamorama or Rocket Piano sales pages. Review sites just work better. We will also research and point you to places you can get inexpensive templates that will make you site look good without costing you a lot of money. If you need a screenshot of the Jamorama sales page, there are two sizes available on the Product Images page. For Rocket Piano images click here.
IMPORTANT NOTE: With the latest Google AdWords Guidelines revisions some Review Sites have been penalized. To avoid this problem make sure your site is RICH in content appropriate to the subject. A page of articles, for example, is a must.
For more information refer to the articles section.
Review Site URL After going to the trouble of putting a review site together, spend the money and get a relavent domain name. RegisterFly registers domaion names for less than $10/year. (Note the URLs of the review sites above.)
When you have a catchy domain name, be sure to capitalize the first letter of each word in the URL in your ads. (Again see above.) This draws attention to your ad and adds to your credibility. This has been tested and works. Driving Traffic - Ads Getting clicks to your site (or the Jamorama or Rocket Piano sites) is a matter of writing a good AdWords ad and getting it in front of targeted prospects. Using Google AdWords has a learning curve but work through it slowly. Google also has quite a bit of information and tutorials to get you started. Their FAQ and Help areas are also very good.
When you put your ads together they must get attaention, and be exciting, compelling and have a sense of urgency. I put ads together like I'm writing for the National Enquirer or some other supermarket tabloid! "Discover awesome tips and techniques to playing guitar like a star" is much more exciting than " Learn with 84 step by step lessons". Search for "learn guitar" or "learn piano" in Google and look at how others word their ads for Jamorama and Rocket Piano as well as other learn-guitar and learm piano products. When you write ads, write TWO of them. Google will automatically run both and show you which one performs better. This is called "split testing" and is a fundamental principle of internet marketing. After a period of time, see which ad has worked better. Keep that ad and write one to replace the one that didn't perform as well. In this way Split Testing helps you improve your advertising efficiancy over time as your ads will be continually getting better. IMPORTANT NOTE: Your FIRST goal is to get your click through rate up. Before you spend lots of money and run lots of ads, make sure that you have ads that WORK. It's well worth the effort, not to mention the money you will save, to woek HARD on getting the CTR up.
Promote Your Review Site - AdWords
There are all kinds of tricks and tactics people use in AdWords campaigns. Again look through the Google AdWords site as their information and tutorials are very good. Also be sure to look at our suggestions for alternate search engines worth trying.
KeyWords KeyWords are perhaps the most closely guarded secret an Affiliate has. There are several good KeyWord search tools listed below for you ti use to develop your own KeyWords list. Start with "learn guitar" and "learn piano" and go from there. Get as creative as you can in thinking about what guitar or piano enthusiasts might search for. Make as long a list as you can.
Once you have a long list, sort your KeyWords list into catagories of related terms. Put all you "learn" related phrases in one catagory, and all you "play" phrases in another. You will end up with MANY catagories. Now write ads specific to EACH GROUP OF KEYWORDS. (Actually write TWO ads and split test them as we described already.) KeyWords Secrets When you write your Google AdWords ad, format the title like this: {KeyWord: XXX XXXX XXX XX} (The "XXXXXs" are your ad's title) This will get Google to display the term that your customer searched for, and if that term is too long it will display your specifided title. This is important because Google BOLDS words in your ad that are in the searched for term which draws attentio to your ad. Be sure to use the squiggly brackets and capitalize K and W or it won't work. Cost Per Click Cost per click will vary by KeyWord but should be in the .12-.20 range. Keep in mind that only a fraction of clicks you generate will buy a product. Keep in mind that if you will make $25 on a sale that the most you can spend to make that sales is $25. Otherwise you will be losing money. Refer to Conversion Rates further down.
Where To Run Ads
When you set up your Google Ad Campaign Google lets you select which countries your ad will run in. Do not run your ads in All Countries. Our research shows that the countries that have a 1% or better conversion rate for Jamorama are: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Netherlands, New Zealand, France, Norway, Italy, Ireland, Hong Kong, Denmark, Chile, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Slovakia, Estonia, Iceland, Bahrain, Trinidad and Tobago, Qatar, Bermuda, Kazakhstan, Zzambia, Antigua and Barbuda, South Africa.
Other countries aren’t worth worrying about, they convert much worse and at best you will break even on them. The worst country is the Phillipines, we got about 2-4000 hits a week from there but didn't generate any sales. Track Click-Through and Conversion Rates Google will automatically show you how well each KeyWord is doing at getting clicks. It will also show you which of the ads you are running is getting more clicks. Rewrite the ad that performs poorer and constantly improve the Click Through Rate (CTR).
Google can also give you a "Tracking Code" to let you see which KeyWords are actually making sales. Send us this Conversion Tracking Code and we'll insert it into the Jamorama and rocket Piano sales process so you can see what KeyWords and ads work and which don't.
